Nigeria = Clown Republic Talk 1.
In Nigeria, Money = Power.
Plato famously said the city is what it is because the people are who they are. The political class of Nigeria mirrors the people. If you switched Tinubu with ANY other political leader in Lagos, there is a 90% chance that the system won't change. We are all hardwired by a mixture of culture and acute illiteracy to think in terms of immediate transactional wealth. Huge problem.
Okay, one last thing. America used to be a shit hole of corruption. Most of Europe used to be as well. But that's one thing common with western systems— at least since the age of enlightenment. They are self correcting. Whether by war, by mass movements, whatever. When an upheaval happens, the problem gets solved. It rarely appears in the next system (of course you could make the argument for world war 1 and 2, but that was because of the failure of the solution, not because a solution wasn't applied). African systems are NOT like that. It's the same thing we'll talk about for fifty years. We still haven't gotten the grasp of human rights since 1960. Disappointing.
Sorry, another thing. Why is it that in Africa, money ALWAYS = power. Especially political power. Fucking annoying mindset. In Western societies, it is not ALWAYS so. There is the tacit knowledge that political power can only be won with the approval of people— and the people are reasonably clever, so populism isn't always an option. Definitely not so in Africa. With money you can buy any position.
Litmus test. Will the Brexit referendum vote have happened in Nigeria? Not in a thousand years. If you like agitate from now till next year. Do you think Abuja cares about what the people think? The sad part isn't that, though. The sad part is that the people do not care about whether or not Abuja rates them. When election time comes, roughly thirty million retards will come and vote for either one of the same type of contestant. Disheartening.
What's the first thing they teach you in town/city planning? More buses/cars/whatever or bigger and wider roads will not fix traffic.
I can bet a huge sum of money that not a single governor in Nigeria knows that.
Spectacular lack of thinking. Like I said before, the political class are petty rogues, not high level thieves.
